Anselmo Ferrario, representative of one of the most advanced families from the Salento area in the field of hotel entrepreneurship between the 19th and 20th centuries, built the Grand Hotel Centrale Bagni, an elegant Art Nouveau building. The structure is directly connected to the Dalla Rosa Spa by a glass walkway, allowing guests to access the treatments without going outside. The idea is symbolic of a futuristic vision, anticipating the spa tourism that would make Salsomaggiore Terme famous.

The hotel immediately hosted illustrious personalities, including Gabriele D'Annunzio. The famous writer, who had come to Salsomaggiore Terme to pursue Giuseppina Giorgi Mancini, one of his flames, stayed in the Zanardelli suite and did not forego the spa treatments.

The original building is enlarged. First a four-storey building with an L-shaped body is constructed, then a second structure, orthogonal to the hotel, inside which a ballroom is built, with references to Art Nouveau and Deco styles.

SAGAS, the company that manages the main hotels in Salsomaggiore Terme, expands the offer of the Grand Hotel Centrale Bagni by building a spa department inside the structure.

The hotel hosted important events for decades, including more than forty Miss Italy finals, becoming a true symbol of Salsomaggiore.

An important redevelopment project gets underway to restore the historic building to its former glory. The entrance on Via Roma, the heart of the city, is enhanced, and the number of rooms increases by 40% thanks to the construction of a fourth floor. The project, designed by architect Patrizia Poli, includes two swimming pools, a spa and wellness area, a panoramic solarium, impressive lounges, meeting rooms and a large covered car park.

After five years of work, the hotel reopens to the public with a new name: Grand Hotel Salsomaggiore. Style, harmony and elegance characterise the rooms; professionalism, courtesy and attention to detail the hotel staff.
