Supertuscan
The Tuscan territory in general, but especially that which surrounds us, is a cradle of unique flavours and experiences that it is unthinkable not to experience. This is demonstrated by the Supertuscans, the great red wines that have been able to distance themselves from the tradition of wine culture and create something extremely valuable.
It all began in Bolgheri, a few kilometres from the Tombolo Talasso Resort, where Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta was inspired by French wines to create the famous Sassicaia, after noticing that his gravelly vineyard bore many similarities to the Graves of Bordeaux.
It was 1978, ten years after the first production, when at a Decanter magazine tasting of the world’s best Cabernets that Sassicaia won, decreeing the true beginning of a fame that led to the birth of the “Bolgheri DOC” appellation.
Our area is therefore a continuous source of inspiration for wine lovers, who can discover the history of Supertuscans through tastings in the numerous wine cellars scattered around the area that can be booked directly at the hotel with the assistance of our concierge.
